The regulatory landscape for polyurethanes is shifting, and California is leading the charge. Stephen Wieroniey, a leading expert on chemicals management and energy efficiency policy, tracks the history of Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) as a "Priority Product" under California’s Safer Consumer Products program. 

This presentation provides a strategic overview of the industry’s multi-year effort to conduct alternatives analyses and the DTSC's ultimate decision to require enhanced safety disclosures instead of product bans. We look at the concrete benefits of the ACC/CPI safety training as a recognized compliance standard and discuss the long-term implications of the new green chemistry fees.
